Respecting Animal Rights

Animals have some similarities to human beings because they are conscious and they are responsive. Animals respond in different ways and if you ask pet owners, they can tell you that each animals is unique, precious in its own identity, and they should be cherished and protected. Since animals are lower than human beings, there are many people who believe that they cannot feel and that we should not be so concerned about animal welfare.

There are many people who believe that animals have no basic right to life that they deserve. Humans are a lot superior than animals and that is seen in the moral realm also, and there are advocates of this belief. There are also those who don’t believe that animals feel, sense, or experience like humans do and that they should not be give a status equal to humans but lower than them. These beliefs came from a faulty sense of righteousness and entitlements. If people will just overcome their biases, then it all boils that to animals having their own rights in this world.

Living in a clean, safe place where they can survive is another right that should be given to animals. We all know humans have this kind of behavior to destroy the natural world like what they do to lush rainforests which soon becomes flat lands and rich coral reefs are turned into ocean wastelands. Destroying this natural ecosystem deprives many animals of clean and safe living places. We can closely link the animal rights movement to the green movement because of this.

One of the most popular displays of human greed is using animals for products for profit. Economic incentive makes this people think that it is alright to kill animals for the sake of gain. Some examples of this are poachers, shark finners, and other people who view animals solely as commodities. They are disregarding the basic rights of animals to live in exchange for the dollar sign. There should be alternative to animal products if we want to preserve their rights to life without suffering.

The core beliefs of animal rights activities are guided by their unwavering morality. The primary things that animals rights advocates believe are given below.

Animals are conscious beings, not machines or objects. Animals also have interests. Human beings should respect the interest of animals. Animals should not be exploited by human beings. Treating animals as objects disregards their rights by human beings. Killing animals is depriving animals of their right to live.

The topic of animal rights can span volumes.
